Acts: -same author as Luke -written before 70 AD -the Church is born in the book of Acts (at Pentecost) and continues the mission of Jesus from the Gospel of Luke; the Church’s mission is Christ’s mission -evidence is found in the parallelisms, such as the similarities between the Passion and Death of Jesus in Luke and the martyrdom of Stephen in Acts. -in Luke Jesus travels from Galilee to Jerusalem to the cross, and in Acts the Apostles spread the message from Jerusalem to the Gentile areas to the ends of the Earth. -about Peter and Paul; beginning of Church -Luke-Acts constitute a historical and literary unity -speeches play a major role in the book, many of the major scenes contain them such as at Pentecost and Stephen’s martyrdom |
